Hello!

I’m Alexis, a Senior Art Director and Brand Designer with a passion for turning ideas into unique visual worlds. Over the past 20+ years, I’ve built brands across hospitality, food and beverage, professional services, and consumer industries—creating identities, campaigns, websites, packaging, and branded spaces that bring ideas to life.

My work is driven by a desire to challenge expectations and take creative risks. I’m drawn to ideas that make me pause and wonder, “Could we actually do that?”

How I Got Here

I was always interested in art and making things. Before I understood design as a career, I was already creating, experimenting, and looking for ways to turn ideas into something tangible.

Growing up, I moved often and attended six schools across three states and five cities before high school. Being the new kid taught me how to adapt quickly, connect with different people, and feel comfortable stepping into unfamiliar situations. That experience has shaped the way I work, helping me collaborate with different teams, understand different perspectives, and approach each project with openness.

Work I’ve Built

I studied Graphic Design at George Mason University and began my career exploring digital design before expanding into branding, environmental design, and creative direction. Over the years, I’ve worked at an architecture firm, design agencies, and a global communications agency, where I spent 10 years leading creative work for organizations across a wide range of sectors.

One of my proudest accomplishments is branding more than 20 restaurants throughout the Washington, DC area. I love projects where design becomes part of people’s everyday lives, whether that is a restaurant they gather in, a product they bring home, or a brand they interact with online.

I also founded Humble Banana, a plant-based ice cream company, where I built a brand—and a business—from the ground up. That meant more than identity and packaging; it meant solving the real problems of turning an idea into a product: developing a recipe that worked at scale, finding the right manufacturing partners, pricing it to survive in a competitive market, and figuring out distribution from scratch. That experience gave me a founder’s instinct for how design, strategy, and business decisions all have to work together to bring a unique ice cream product to market.

Outside the Studio

Based in the Washington, D.C. area for 30 years, I find inspiration everywhere—from hiking through national parks and watching wild horses on the beach to foraging for mushrooms in the woods, experimenting with handmade projects, and filling my home with color and unexpected details. I’m always looking for new ways to create, experiment, and see the world differently.
